FAQ

Who is this program suitable for?

If you are struggling with your weight and an unhealthy relationship with food, this program could be suitable for you.  If you are:

  • finding it hard to lose weight,
  • having difficultly maintaining weight loss,
  • always yo yo dieting and swing between starving and binging
  • desiring a healthier, more positive relationship with food,

this program could be right for you. It is designed for those who are:

  • open-minded,
  • ready to learn new techniques,
  • ready to try a different way of doing things than you have before,
  • willing to invest energy and time to improve your well-being.

How is this program different from other weight loss plans?

Nearly all weight loss plans are effective in the short term, however, if people do not address long term habits, make lifestyle changes, and deal with barriers to emotional eating and overeating, they will regain the weight in the long term. This all-embracing program is not just another diet. There is research and evidence to show that diets alone very rarely work in the long term – the statistics are grim, with a very slim chance of dieters able to maintain their new weight. Instead, we approach weight loss from a multi-disciplinary perspective, embracing nutritional change, behavioural change, and fostering emotional growth. Throughout the program, there is ample opportunity for you to reflect on how the information and learning applies to your unique situation, and you will work towards individual goals. You will learn a variety of behavioural techniques that will help you to learn new habits in place of unhealthy eating behaviours, and you will be encouraged to self-monitor your progress. You will learn to be your own teacher, learning to spot your own triggers, and what YOU need to do to become, and stay, healthy.

How much weight can I expect to lose?

Weight loss is a journey, and there are many factors that influence your rate of weight loss. If you have been on and off diets for a long time, your body may need some time to adjust, and your metabolism may need to recover. Our aim is to help your body become a fat-burning machine! We will focus on making lifestyle changes, as research shows that behavioural and nutritional strategies are the best way to lose and maintain weight loss. This involves developing new, healthy habits, and every person is unique in how much time it takes to adjust, depending on how ingrained those negative behaviours are in your life. Every individual is also unique in how your own body responds to the various changes you will be implementing, and, what their starting point is. Therefore it is impossible to say how much weight you will lose, but a healthy, sustainable weight loss to expect would be a 1-2lb a week, with fluctuations and plateaus at times being the norm. We focus not only on weight loss but changing your relationship with food, improving blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol levels, and your overall sense of well- being.

How long is the program?

The program is 15 weeks long. There is no time restriction on completing the course – it is actual better that you take longer to move through the program if you need to, in order to create long lasting habits rather than rushing it and then slipping back into old ways. You will be able to focus on each area for as long as you need, before moving on to the next stage.

Do you accept insurance?

We do not currently accept insurance, however, clients may submit their invoice to their insurance company to obtain reimbursement.
